FOUNDATION
The foundation of the school counseling program at Riverside Brookfield High School serves as the solid base upon which the rest of the comprehensive, data-driven, preventative, school counseling program is built. The program is designed to meet the ASCA National Model domains of personal/social, college/career, and academic needs of all students. The curriculum of the school counseling program is founded upon the goals, missions, visions, and beliefs of Riverside Brookfield High School. Within the foundation, you will learn about the focus of our program through a detailed description of our beliefs about students, our vision, mission, and goals of the school counseling program as it relates to Riverside Brookfield High School.
As a result of our needs assessment, which consisted of a scantron survey administered to sophomore level students, data revealed that a majority of the students desired more information relating to college, stress management, and time management. Students reported that they could benefit from group counseling sessions relating to feelings of depression and sadness. Our curriculum is aimed at addressing these needs so that students are equipped with information and resources to develop and mature into healthy and successful adults.
The vision statement for the school counselors at Riverside Brookfield is a shared vision that aligns with the vision of the school. In addition, our mission statement is written with students as our primary focus, but also reflects a shared perspective the mission statement of Riverside Brookfield High School:
“Riverside Brookfield High School is a partnership of parents, students, staff, Board of Education, elementary schools and community. This academic partnership will provide a comprehensive education in a safe, orderly, well-equipped environment. All students will be prepared with the intellectual, aesthetic, vocational, physical, personal and social skills necessary to be responsible and effective members of a diverse and changing world”
